We are excited to announce that Dr. Michele Borba will be our featured speaker at the 2018 Author Luncheon on April 11 at Hilton Omaha.
Dr. Borba is an internationally-renowned educational psychologist, and parenting, bullying and character expert. In her work, she aims to strengthen children’s character and resilience, build strong families, create compassionate school cultures and reduce cruelty among peers.
Dr. Borba is the best-selling author of 22 books including Building Moral Intelligence and The Big Book of Parenting Solutions. Her most recent book, Unselfie: Why Empathetic Kids Succeed in Our All-About-Me World, was published in 2016 and shows how a lack of empathy relates to the self-absorption of today’s society. Research shows that teens today are 40% less empathetic than they were 30 years ago. Unselfie narrows in on the causes of the empathy crisis and outlines a plan for parents and educators to reverse it.
“Empathy is what lays the foundation for helping children live one essential truth: We are all humans who share the same fears and concerns, and deserve to be treated with dignity,” Borba writes in her book.
Additionally, Dr. Borba is a national media contributor, appearing regularly on NBC, TODAY and Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers. She has been featured on many national media outlets including Dr. Phil, Dateline, The View and CNN, as well as in Newsweek, Good Housekeeping, U.S. News & World Report, The New York Times and more.
