Omaha Metro YMCA Summer

Need some help getting your kids off the couch and outside this summer? Our summer youth baseball, softball, and t-ball programs at the YMCA of Greater Omaha are a home run! Your child will learn the fundamentals of the game, nurture their skills, and feel the support of the coaches and their team, plus they will be outdoors getting some much needed healthy exercise.
“Sports can help kids build confidence, grow their skills, create a lifelong passion for the sport, and learn teamwork,” says Tom Stubby, youth sports director at the Armbrust YMCA, “Kids involved in sports stay physically active and have a sense of belonging as they work towards a common goal on a team.”
Kids will engage in low stress, non-competitive exercise, all while learning the rules of the game. We also focus on teaching children how to cooperate with one another and understand the importance of working as a team. Everyone plays at the YMCA!
Unsure of what skill level to sign up your child for? We have a variety of divisions to ensure that your child has the best experience playing for the Y. We have the perfect team for kids aged 3 years – 8th grade!
The Fundamental Division is for kids ages Kindergarten through 6th grade. This level is designed to teach kids the rules & fundamental skills of the game without any competitive pressure. A controlled game simulation allows children to experience the game at their own pace. This division does not play any scheduled games.
The Recreational Division is for kids ages 3 years – 8th grade. Volunteer coaches focus on the fundamentals of the game, plus develop new skills in their players. Players aged 3 years – Kindergarten will have a 15 minute practice with a game following. Kids in 1st-8th grades will have a practice during the week with a scheduled game on Saturdays. All players will play at least 50% of the time.
At the YMCA of Greater Omaha, we know there is much more to a game than the final score. A child’s involvement in youth sports gives them the chance to learn about teamwork, achievement and build lifelong friendships. Plus, they’ll have fun while gaining skills and keeping active during the long summer months.
The YMCA of Greater Omaha has nine locations and offers a variety of youth sports all year according to the season.
